Their names must not be forgotten
SHAHIED records documented deaths related to conflict, persecution and violence in Iraqi Kurdistan from 1946 to the present. The archive includes Kurdish civilians, Peshmerga and others affected, without political party preference.
A home for individual stories
Each person has a separate profile. We identify the original source, record dates only when available, and distinguish civilians, fighters, and other victims. Survivors are not listed as deceased.
Verification and photographs
We use public historical records and submissions reviewed by an editor. We do not invent portraits or Kurdish name spellings. Photographs require permission or a reusable license, with attribution. Sensitive images are hidden until requested.
The archive is growing
This is a carefully sourced starting collection, not a complete list of all victims. Many names and portraits still need to be documented.
